Missoni Heaven
I know I'm missing winter now. All I want to do is put on layers and layers of scarves and hats and jackets and head out for coffee with friends, but alas, it is now 75 degrees in Las Vegas and probably heading to the disastrous 100's soon enough..I think I'm going to look into traveling TO the cold for winter from now on. I'm still in my normal winter wear of skinny trousers and blouse, however would love all these dreamy colors and layers for winter image wwd.com

Just another post about how amazing Ms. Paltrow is, she always manages to look great, and even though I'm sure there are people who are criticizing her website, and other ventures, I was exceedingly entertained this week with her Paris tour, I can't wait to go spend some time at little tea shops that she recommends! P.S. this dress makes me want to run to the gym and stay there until I can fit into my skinny jeans...thanks a lot Tracy Anderson! haha

Running With Heels- and horrible interns
As much as I will probably watch future episodes of this show to see what Ms. Garcia is wearing due to her fabulous Latin style and grace that was so exemplified in her little podcast for Elle last year, I cannot handle these interns. I would think that they could come up with girls with more intellect that wanted to work for Marie Claire. Maybe there is tricky editing, and they are making these girls look incompetent when they are not, but I highly doubt it. I'm really not in the business of being nasty or mean spirited, I'm sure an internship at a great magazine is a coveted position, and I guess I should have gone straight from college to apply for an internship there, maybe I stood a chance!Time will tell... Sunday night fun
Ms. Cruz's vintage white gown may have been one of the highlights of the evening, which was made even better when she won the statue for Vicky Christina Barcelona. This antique dress was so lovely. I'm sure some fashion police will give her some trouble for the fit of the bodice, but I think she looked lovely!! xo O wwd.com

Blog of the week
Normally I do this post on Tuesdays, but since this last week was fashion week, I didn't get to it, nor did I keep up with the insane amount of shows, parties, images, blog posts etc. I will be much better equiped to deal with all of it next time around, and I look forward to the challenge! I found this great site called Bits and Bobbins out of San Francisco that I love and hope you will too! I love her wardrobe remix posts!! xo O image etsy bits and bobbins shop...
Another Knitting post
So, I don't know how to knit. I have tried to teach myself with Knitting for dummies, etc. I think it is impossible, and need assistance from a proper knitter, and think I may have found one, Thank you DK. I have driven around for probably 4 years with white yarn and knitting needles in my trunk, just in case. Knitting is huge, and there was a big party last night to celebrate wool and the gang's opening in the US. I'm going to finally attempt knitting again, as Collete had a knitting party a while back, and I posted a guerrilla knitting post and I should really get on it, (just like my Rosetta stone French). image wool and the blog...xo O

Not so Magical....
So twice a year the labels that fill Macy's, Dillards, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomies make their way to the huge convention center and adjacent buildings for MAGIC. I attended this event once before and was pretty overwhelmed at the offerings. I didn't however think that there was many really great options for young designers who were just starting out, and it was very overtaken with huge labels, and brands who were doing big deals. I know, I know, there has to be a place for the masses. There are satellite shows like PROJECT which, are also huge, and don't have many great offerings I found when I went. Maybe one year they can have a truly small, independent designer show that has lots to offer of west coast and national designers who can't afford a hundred thousand dollars for a booth. None the less, this always brings all kinds of weird celebs in town for random after show parties etc. If you were a club goer as I'm not, this may be your week of sightings, and free horrible bedazzled tshirts from Ed Hardy or another takeoff from Von Dutch...I'm happy that I'm downtown and won't have to deal with any of this nonsense. Can't you see Angelina. Jolie in this dress?
Earth Tones galore...with a little magenta
I'm so interested to see who styled this show? If I attempted any of these looks, i would most certainly look like Mary Poppins, or a bag lady. It is brilliant and not only highlights the clothes but makes these colors even more edgy and vibrant than they would be without the styling! Bravo Marc! xo O images wwd.com

Blackout
I'm sensing some doom and gloom on the runway. Apart from the Marc Jacobs collection, and the beautiful Matthew Williamson show, it seems to be Black, and Grey and Black all over. I have no idea if it has something to do with the state of the economy and frankly, I don't care. I'm not one to write about these sorts of things, and am just interested in what the creative mind can do with the combination of trousers, dresses, blouses, and fabric etc. I will gladly take the black trend to the bank, and whip up some of the lovely ensembles that have been displayed this season. Is this the norm for any Fall/ Winter season?? More investigating needs to happen...this may be my weekend project. xo O images wwd.com
OMG - unexpected reaction to Matthew Williamson
Matthew Williamson clearly has a great following of ladies who adore his wears. I simply haven't been an admirer for absolutely no reason. This is one of the first shows that I have been blown away by. The simple hair with yummy prints, beautiful silhouettes, color and variety made me want to eat up several of these dresses! Wow! I think I'm so thrilled with it because the collection is so far away from what would be grabbed for in my closet, but I would love to have any of these!

My Fav Sartorialist Look so far
So, it is no secret that I would rather have Mr. Schuman photograph me than any paparazzi. I would be more flattered than any spread in a glossy magazine. His eye is impeccable and I only hope I have the good fortune (and hopefully a good ensemble) to catch his eye one day in NY or another city in the world! I'm bookmarking this look for a future copy cat look this winter! Love the little boho ring on her finger with the wide leg pants!

Anna Wintour comments on the Economy
Ah, the Mistress of the Fashion Industry comments on Value fashion. I'm sure somewhere she is seething inside, but I'm always curious to hear her take on the current state of the Fashion Industry, obviously she has lasted quite a long stint. This article is a fab little snippet of what her current state of the union is..she talks about the Obama's, value, and what is to come of these crazy times, in her industry of course. image: Reuters

Jason Wu- Impresses
I'll be honest, I wasn't thrilled with Mrs. Obama's Inaugural dress. It was lovely, appropriate, and she rocked it. I just wasn't blown away..I was expecting fireworks, I know, however Jason Wu's new collection is a perfect blend of appropriate silhouettes and billowy frocks. I most enjoyed these photos, especially this lower left one. I probably couldn't get away with it, since strapless isn't really for me, but I would try! xo O images WWD
The New Cocktail
This is my favorite Monique Lhuiller look of the rtw collection. The element of black, and grunge with this beautiful white dress is perfection. I will take two please...I'm going to attempt to recreate this look with a dress I have that is an old Calvin Klein that I have always saved despite never wearing, for lack of originality with how to wear it. Of course a stylish French designer gives me inspiration for the dress. Merci!

Jenni Kayne can rely on her Mum and Pop
I really couldn't be more obsessed with this collection. How do you go wrong here? I find it incredibly chic that she showed her collection at her parents house on Park Avenue. What a complete hipster move, and I love it. These pieces are enviable, wearable, and I adore her model choice. This intimate affair looks like it was just what was needed for these pieces. Bravo Jenni!
And were off...
Here it is, I believe the first Anna Wintour photo of Fashion week, if it isn't than it was my first glimpse. I'm kind of going to savor the moment of seeing her possibly for the last time. I doubt she let cameras into her office to make the September issue if her imminent departure wasn't near. Here she is at the amfar event to kick off Fashion Week! I'm so excited to see what comes down those runways!! I'm already obsessed with the Jenni Kayne show...more on that in just a bit. Image wireimage

Blog of the Week
My new favorite find is this great blog, Stuff Parisians Like. Even though I'm not French, and obviously have some odd sickness of loving everything about the culture, this one I inherintly apply to myself. Black is always good..Black works..
(Thank you for allowing a brief hiatus as to enjoy the sights of New Orleans for a few days to clear the head. I'm back now, and geared up for fashion week!) Image O-Chateau.com merci!

A Model's Diet before NY Fashion Week
It is always funny when you think about how those models are so so thin, and still manage to have energy to fly around, have jet lag, stay up late etc. I can't even force myself to eat less when I have had one long day, let alone several in a row. I could never be a model, my will power is just not that good. She details the week before diet that she keeps to stay thin and fit into sample size (0)2. I only wish in Las Vegas there was a place to get a healthy veggie and tofu bowl for lunch Downtown! I'm going to have to adopt this for my lunch on my own until some genius decides to do a healthy concept here. Who knows if this is complete BS and she is living on the "C" diet as my boyfriend so eloquently said, "coffee, cigarettes, and coke". Image Melissa Ham, NY mag

New Casino Downtown
This is City Girl LV, so here is one interesting piece of news for Downtown...Forest City has submitted to build the first casino Downtown in 30 years in the Union Park area that is currently being developed. This is an interesting article that talks a little about it. Of course in a "I'll scratch your back if you build us a new city hall" move, it will sure be interesting what comes of this.
As if anyone hates Gwyneth Paltrow....
Dear Ms. Paltrow,
Thank you for a. being fabulous, b. your new website and c. showing people that you can be a well educated person, have a family, struggle with a little extra weight, make great films, go on a road trip with Mario, Speak more than one language, and still have time to put together an outift now and then. People are crazy, and simply don't know how to channel their boredom and general lack of fulfillment in life. I only hope that one day, I can have all these atributes of my personality. xo Olivia

Claire Daines looking perfect again
I'll be honest and say that I was not impressed with the SAG awards...I don't know why, maybe everyone is saving up for the Oscars?? However, Claire Danes is having a good dress couple of weeks with her choices. This red number was one of my fav's for the SAG, and the Navy for a charity event after was simple but perfect for her. Bravo! Images Justjared.com and style.com
My Mother Inspiration
I know many people think Victoria, is some sort of Robot that doesn't eat. However she is my inspiration that you can be a. married for over 10 years, b. have children and still look fabulous everyday c. have short hair that looks adorable and not old lady looking. I'm thinking I will go to my closet right now, but on a fancy black dress and get on with the rest of my day! Image x17 online
