Las Vegas Movies

This film has been the last in a long line of holiday, and Oscar season films that have been on the agenda to see for ages. Finally the film debuts, and is happily played to audiences awaiting the reuniting of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, which was not as interesting as a new Sam Mendes film to this movie goer. However, even though Las Vegas is the home of more than two million people, this valley does not EVER get the good films in the "select city" release, and to add insult to injury, all the potentially good films open in one theater in the Valley. So after one attempt at screening the movie, where the line was 45 minutes to purchase a ticket (an attempt, not sucessfully completed) another attempt was made by going to one of the three theatres that were within a 20 minute drive from Downtown. This is not surprising considering the top movie rentals from Netflix for Las Vegas are things like "Three Days to Vegas", "Deal", " The Girl Next Door", and "School for Scoundrels". There is of course room for whimsy in renting videos, but the list for Las Vegas is obviously a bit off tilt. What is going on here people! I just wish that I didn't feel like I live in Montana sometimes, where it's possible to have an independant theatre, and cinemas that include not only horror movies, and slap stick comedy. image: rotten tomatoes
